Lead Content Licensing Specialist
clio
Job description
About the role
Clio, a global legal AI technology company, is looking for a Lead Content Licensing Specialist to own and grow its portfolio of third-party content licensing partners, including publishers, courts, government bodies and data partners across the US and international markets. The role has two tracks: maintaining the health of existing partner agreements (renewals, compliance, relationships) and finding and closing new licensing deals that fill content gaps by practice area or jurisdiction.
Key responsibilities
- Act as main point of contact for a large global portfolio of publishers and licensing partners, acting as a trusted account owner and tracking terms, renewals and compliance obligations
- Own the renewal cycle for licensing agreements and monitor partner compliance, flagging risks early
- Find and pursue new licensing deals that close practice-area or jurisdictional gaps, run initial outreach and scoping and hand off strategic deals to commercial or senior leadership
- Negotiate contractual, financial, technical and strategic terms with global legal publishers, courts and data partners, keeping deadlines on track
- Work with Content, Editorial, Product and Legal teams on content fit, technical ingestion requirements and metadata standards, and give input on licensing strategy
Required profile
- 5+ years in content licensing, publishing rights or partnership management, ideally with exposure to legal publishing or legal data
- Proven track record of closing multi-stakeholder or high-value international content and software licensing agreements
- Experience managing a portfolio of external partners across more than one market
- Strong negotiation skills with senior external stakeholders, and clear written and verbal communication
- Project management skills to run multiple deals and renewals to deadline
Required skills
- Reading and analysing complex legal documents, copyright frameworks and digital distribution rights
- Negotiation across financial, technical and strategic terms
What we offer
- Expected salary range of GBP 79,100 to 118,700, depending on region, experience and profile
- Flexible hybrid work environment
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Private healthcare with life insurance and critical illness cover
- Pension contribution
- Professional development and growth options
- Clio anniversary recognition programme
