Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

The Electrical Design Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of electrical systems for industrial and process‑related projects. You will produce calculations, schematics, single‑line diagrams, cable schedules and technical specifications while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards and company procedures. The role also includes leading a team of electrical design engineers and supporting installation, testing and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation designs, producing load calculations, control architecture, cable schedules and panel designs.
• Manage the EICA scope across multiple concurrent projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and supervising junior engineers.
• Provide senior‑level technical support, conduct site surveys, FAT/SAT testing and resolve design or installation issues.
• Lead internal design reviews, client meetings and stakeholder updates, ensuring clear technical communication.
• Support bid teams with technical input for proposals, assess risks and create subject‑matter expertise.

Required profile

• Proven experience in industrial, manufacturing, building services or process‑industry electrical design.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering documentation, project delivery and compliance with standards such as BS 7671, Machinery Directive and HASAWA.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and coordinate with project, procurement and site teams.
