Lead Pharmacist – Pharmacy Patient Services

About the role

We are looking for an experienced pharmacy professional to lead Patient Services across the University College London Hospitals (UCLH) network. The Lead Pharmacist will shape and influence the delivery of safe, effective, and patient‑centred pharmacy services in a complex, multi‑site environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership for pharmacy patient services, ensuring safety, efficiency and patient‑centred care across all UCLH sites.
• Lead and develop a diverse pharmacy workforce, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee operational delivery, including workforce planning, service resilience and coordination to meet demand and support patient flow.
• Collaborate with senior clinical, operational and external partners to deliver integrated services, including outsourced provision.
• Monitor performance, manage risk and drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and experience.
• Contribute to strategic planning, service transformation and innovation using data and insight.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with extensive experience in NHS or acute hospital pharmacy services.
• Proven operational leadership and ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong collaborative skills and experience working across professional and organisational boundaries.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and service innovation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and NHS service delivery models.
• Experience in workforce planning and service resilience.
• Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement actions.
