Lead Platform Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Platform Engineer you will provide technical leadership across large‑scale cloud programmes that support critical UK public sector services. You will shape architecture, set engineering standards and guide delivery teams to build secure, scalable and maintainable platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of secure, large‑scale AWS platforms.
• Set technical direction for Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Assess new technologies and raise engineering standards and code quality.
• Own complex technical and delivery risks through to resolution.
• Translate technical decisions for senior, client and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers, delegate tasks and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on Platform, DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain SC clearance.
• Strong production experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux and CI/CD.
• Proven ability to influence architecture and technical strategy across programmes.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and raising technical standards.
