Lead Python Engineer – Compute Platform

About the role

Man Group is seeking a Lead Python Engineer to drive the development of its large‑scale research compute platform. You will work within the Developer Platform team to build, scale and maintain the core Python‑based infrastructure that powers quantitative research and software development across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Python compute platform used by research, trading and technology teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create open‑source cluster‑compute solutions, APIs and frameworks that streamline investment and operational workflows.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies in cluster computing and Python‑centric libraries, evaluating and integrating them where appropriate.
• Ensure platform reliability, performance and security at scale.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in code quality and DevOps.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and operating large Python‑based compute clusters in a fast‑paced, data‑intensive environment.
• Strong understanding of finance‑oriented research workflows and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a track record of delivering high‑impact platform projects.
