Lead Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

LSEG's Risk Intelligence organisation is looking for a Tech Lead for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for its Risk Screening Product Line, based in Nottingham, UK. The role leads reliability for critical Screening applications supporting the EMEA region, covering availability, scalability, performance and security of business-critical platforms in a cloud-native environment. It combines technical leadership with mentoring and team building.

Key responsibilities

• Lead 24x7 reliability operations for Screening services, including WC1 and World Check verify applications, and define SLOs, SLIs and error budgets
• Act as Major Incident Commander during outages and lead blameless post-incident reviews
• Drive automation across incident response, deployment, compliance and observability, and co-own the cloud reliability roadmap with platform teams
• Embed non-functional requirements and secure-by-design principles in delivery pipelines, and ensure DR readiness and runbook quality
• Lead and mentor a team of SRE engineers, support career development and performance management, and collaborate with HR and Talent on hiring pipelines
• Represent the Nottingham site in global SRE forums, support offshore strategy, and partner with vendors and staffing partners on workforce augmentation
• Support BCP/DR planning and site-level operational readiness

Required profile

• 8+ years in production operations, SRE or DevOps roles, with at least 3+ years in a people management capacity
• Proven experience managing cloud-native services on Azure and AWS
• Understanding of SRE principles (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident response)
• Experience with identity platforms and/or fraud detection systems
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and analytical skills

Required skills

• Azure and AWS services such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, Lambda, ECS, RDS, CloudWatch, and AWS Lambda
• Kubernetes and Docker
• CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions and Jenkins
• Observability platforms such as Datadog, BigPanda and OpenTelemetry
