Lead Surgery and Theatres Pharmacist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic pharmacist to lead the Surgery and Theatres Pharmacy service at Whipps Cross University Hospital. This senior leadership position oversees clinical pharmacy services for surgical and theatre areas, ensuring patient‑centred care and clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership and operational management of pharmacy services in surgery and theatres.
• Lead, develop and mentor a team of specialist pharmacists.
• Drive continuous improvement, medicines optimisation and service innovation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective use of medicines.
• Support medicines‑related cost improvement plans and develop evidence‑based formulary guidance.
• Contribute to Trust performance targets and the research agenda, including student placements.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacist with senior leadership experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in surgical and theatre pharmacy environments.
• Strong ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive improvement.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care and NHS standards.
