Lead Surgery and Theatres Pharmacist

About the role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic pharmacist to lead the Surgery and Theatres Pharmacy service at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. This senior leadership position offers the chance to shape clinical pharmacy services in a large, diverse and innovative department focused on patient‑centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership and operational management of pharmacy services for surgical and theatre areas.
- Lead, develop and inspire a team of specialist pharmacists, driving continuous improvement and medicines optimisation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective use of medicines and optimise patient flow.
- Support delivery of medicines‑related cost improvement plans and develop evidence‑based formulary guidance.
- Contribute to Trust performance targets and the research agenda, including student placements.
Required profile
- Registered pharmacist with extensive experience in surgical and theatre pharmacy.
- Proven leadership and team‑development capabilities.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with clinical and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence and service innovation.
