Lead Trainer – Initial Signaller Training

About the role

Network Rail is seeking a Lead Trainer to deliver Initial Signaller training at its Shettleston operations centre. You will inspire new signallers undertaking the CIRO diploma and support their development through a blend of face‑to‑face, virtual and digital delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of technical, safety and behavioural training for new signallers, including assessment, coaching and mentoring.
• Work with the training planning team to maximise utilisation and schedule sessions across Shettleston and occasional other sites.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and embed Network Rail values in all training interactions.
• Support apprentice development, including safeguarding checks, NVQ assessment and work‑based learning.
• Tailor learning approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual needs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated awareness of Network Rail’s safety vision and commitment to safe working practices.
• Willingness to complete a six‑week Train‑the‑Trainer course, a Level 3 City & Guilds in Learning and Development and an Assessor qualification (NOP 2.17).
• Ability to travel reasonably to other sites when required.
