About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to help students reach their academic, social and emotional potential in a supportive school environment. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored assistance to pupils, including those with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the classroom.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and learning activities.
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Provide additional support to pupils with SEND where required.
- Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
- Support classroom behaviour management and encourage positive interactions.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Assist with classroom preparation, displays and administrative duties.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.
- Support students during breaktimes, school trips and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, caring and supportive approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good literacy, numeracy and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
