Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Wirral)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports pupils aged 11‑16 in a welcoming secondary school on the Wirral. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to help students access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting resources for diverse learning needs.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to help pupils engage with the curriculum.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment and encourage student wellbeing.
• Collaborate with pastoral teams to monitor progress and address behavioural or emotional concerns.
• Support students with SEND, SEMH or behavioural challenges where required.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in a school, coaching, mentoring, youth work or community setting.
• Positive, proactive and nurturing attitude.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to support learners with varying abilities and needs.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
