Legal Advisor – UK Financial Services

About the role

Join a small, dynamic legal team within a UK‑regulated financial services group. Reporting to the Senior Legal Advisor, you will provide comprehensive legal support to Momentum Global Investment Management’s UK businesses, handling contracts, negotiations and litigation coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review legal documentation for acquisitions, strategic projects and SPV creation (e.g., share purchase, loan and security agreements).
• Prepare and manage a wide range of financial‑services agreements, including investment management, distribution, trading and data‑related contracts.
• Collaborate with the compliance team on regulatory matters and with the South African legal team on cross‑border projects.
• Manage external counsel for litigation matters as required.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with an undergraduate law degree.
• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience in a London law firm.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of building relationships across the business.
• Critical thinking and the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.

Required skills

• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Good knowledge of English commercial, company law and, preferably, UK financial services regulation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong IT aptitude and quick learning of internal systems.
