Legal Consultant – Leveraged Finance & Private Credit (5-8 PQE)

About the role

Allen & Overy, through its Peerpoint platform, is seeking experienced lawyers to join as self‑directed legal consultants. Assignments typically run six months or longer and may be placed within A&O Shearman practice groups or directly with external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support on leveraged finance, private credit, and direct‑lending transactions across Europe.
• Assist investment banks, asset managers, and credit managers with loan finance, structured finance, and restructuring matters.
• Deliver specialist technical guidance on high‑yield, acquisition financing, and infra‑lending deals.
• Work on pan‑European transactions for leading private credit managers and alternative investment firms.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in leveraged finance, including private credit or direct lending.
• Minimum two years at a top‑tier law firm with a focus on leveraged finance.
• Preferably recent in‑house experience at a leading financial services institution.
• Self‑motivated, proactive career ownership and strong communication with Peerpoint.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and deliver high‑quality service.

Required skills

• Expertise in loan finance transactions, including leveraged and acquisition financing.
• Knowledge of structured finance, funds financing, and fixed‑income special situations.
• Understanding of private credit, direct lending, and infra‑lending structures.
