Legal Counsel - Commercial and Contracts

About the role

Apple is seeking an experienced Payments Attorney to join its Legal Department in London. The role supports the Apple Pay and Wallet team across Europe and Emerging Markets, focusing on regulatory, product counseling, and commercial‑transactional law for consumer financial products delivered through mobile wallets.

Key responsibilities

• Act as product counsel for mobile‑wallet and payment services, providing legal advice on product design and launch.
• Shape Apple’s responses to legal and regulatory requirements in the payments ecosystem.
• Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements with third‑party providers in the payments industry.
• Advise on contract structures and commercial terms for Apple’s partners and customers.
• Interpret and apply relevant European directives, laws and regulations affecting payments, open banking, e‑commerce and consumer finance.
• Support service‑expansion initiatives by translating applicable laws into practical guidance.

Required profile

• Significant experience providing product advice for mobile wallets, payment cards, payment systems or alternative payment services.
• Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements; intellectual‑property or technology‑transactions background preferred.
• Deep understanding of European directives, laws and regulations impacting payments, financial services, open banking, e‑commerce and consumer finance, including data‑privacy considerations.
• Knowledge of laws governing the collection, storage and use of personal financial information is a plus.
• Strong work ethic, collaborative mindset and ability to operate within a global legal team.
• Experience working in an international environment and strong client‑development skills are advantageous.
