Legal Counsel – Fixed-Term (12 months) in London

About the role

The Foundation is seeking a Legal Counsel on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to reinforce its legal capacity during a period of heightened demand. Based in London, the role will support commercial contracting, intellectual property protection and corporate legal matters while the organisation reviews its longer‑term resource needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and conduct thorough research to support the Foundation’s strategic funding goals.
• Draft, negotiate and manage commercial, supplier, SaaS, philanthropic funding agreements and MOUs.
• Maintain and protect the global IP portfolio, monitor infringements and oversee licensing of copyrights and trademarks.
• Instruct and manage external counsel, including budgeting and cost control.
• Assist with data protection, regulatory compliance, sanctions, antitrust and information governance matters.
• Support corporate legal requirements and dispute resolution with third parties.

Required profile

• High level of attention to detail and strong written English.
• Ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
• Excellent oral English communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
