Legal Officer – HM Courts & Tribunals Service

About the role

The Legal Officer will support the administration of tribunals within the First‑tier Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber, based at the Manchester Tribunal Hearing Centre. Working independently yet supported by a senior legal officer and judicial leadership, you will help ensure timely and fair case progression across the national tribunal system.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake complex case work and assessments to determine the best way to advance caseloads.
• Make informed case‑management decisions using delegated judicial powers.
• Liaise with internal HMCTS colleagues and external stakeholders to facilitate effective administration of justice.
• Identify and remove barriers to timely case progression.
• Support the delivery of justice in the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.
