About the role
The Independent Schools Inspectorate is seeking a Legal, Regulatory and Complaints Officer to support the Director of Legal, Regulation and Complaints. The role involves managing legal and regulatory matters, handling complaints, and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and review routine legal documents, correspondence, notices, case packs, policies and procedural documents.
- Liaise with external legal advisers, counsel and relevant stakeholders as required.
- Research and prepare summaries, briefings and advice notes on education law, public law, regulatory law, safeguarding and data protection.
- Maintain accurate records of legal matters and support governance frameworks, registers and delegations.
- Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory obligations relevant to the inspectorate.
- Support GDPR compliance, respond to subject access requests and deliver data‑protection training.
- Maintain compliance trackers and assist in reporting legal and regulatory risks.
