Litigation Lawyer – In‑House Legal Team (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join a dynamic, busy local authority in‑house legal team. The role will involve handling a varied caseload of criminal, civil and judicial review matters under the supervision of a Senior Lawyer.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and progress criminal and civil litigation matters, including judicial review cases.
• Provide legal advice to council members and officers, and represent the authority in contentious proceedings.
• Draft pleadings, statements, and other legal documents; conduct negotiations and attend relevant meetings.
• Occasionally sit on Licensing Committees and advise on licensing issues.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to handle at least three of the following areas: homelessness, prosecutions, licensing, judicial review, education, litigation, no recourse to public funds.
• Experience in a private practice environment is acceptable; familiarity with local authority work is an advantage.
