Locally Employed Neonatal Doctor (ST1-3)

About the role

This permanent position offers a junior doctor the chance to work in a busy local neonatal unit that supports over 4,500 births each year. You will be part of a consultant‑led service, gaining confidence in clinical and procedural skills while delivering high‑quality neonatal care.

Key responsibilities

• Attend deliveries and lead neonatal resuscitation with Tier 2 support.
• Review and manage infants on the neonatal unit and postnatal wards, including Special Care, High Dependency and short‑term Intensive Care.
• Recognise clinical deterioration promptly, escalate care, document clearly and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in audit, quality‑improvement projects and teaching activities.
• Provide 1‑in‑9 cover on the Tier 1 rota and help meet national and local clinical quality targets.

Required profile

• Medical qualification with eligibility to work in the UK.
• ST1‑3 equivalent experience in neonatology or a strong interest in developing neonatal expertise.
• Ability to work within a consultant‑led, multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, continuous learning and collaborative practice.
