About the role

This temporary position supports a South West local authority with specialist SEN and education law matters. The role is fully remote and initially runs for six months, with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

Manage a personal caseload of SEND matters.
Handle SENDIST appeals through to conclusion.
Address challenges related to provision, placement, and local authority assessment refusals.
Advise on amendments to statements of provision and suitable placements for children with special educational needs.
Prepare and pursue judicial review claims.
Respond to Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman complaints.
Answer client enquiries concerning EHCP and SEND issues.
Assist in reviewing and updating relevant policies.

Required profile

Strong background in SEN and education law, preferably gained within a local authority.
Ability to hit the ground running during a busy period.

Hourly rate up to £60 on an umbrella arrangement.
