Maintenance Assistant / Handyman – Full‑time Hotel Role

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Assistant/Handyman to join the maintenance team at the Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick. This full‑time position involves maintaining and repairing hotel facilities and ensuring a safe environment for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair services and equipment throughout the hotel and grounds.
• Follow daily task lists issued by the Chief Engineer or Senior Shift Engineer.
• Carry out maintenance requests such as plumbing tasks, light‑bulb replacements and minor electrical work.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all hotel areas, identifying and rectifying faults promptly.
• Provide friendly, professional service to guests in public areas and bedrooms.
• Maintain cleanliness of allocated engineering areas (workshop, plant rooms, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, fire regulations and company policies.

Required profile

• Keen eye for detail and ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
• Team player who can manage own workload.
• Flexible availability, including weekends.

Required skills

• Basic plumbing skills (advantageous).
• Basic electrical skills (advantageous).
