Maintenance Engineer – Plumber

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer – Plumber to join our student accommodation portfolio in Hatfield. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will ensure all plumbing systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all plumbing assets.
• Respond promptly to reactive plumbing faults and emergencies.
• Maintain compliance with performance targets and service standards.
• Document work performed and update maintenance records.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, including a mandatory basic DBS check.
• Collaborate with tenants, facilities teams, and external contractors.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in maintenance plumbing, preferably in commercial or FM environments.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong customer focus and proactive problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Fault‑finding and problem‑solving on plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of water systems, drainage and pipework.
• Experience with heating systems (desirable).
• Gas Safe registration (desirable).
