Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Maintenance Supervisor will lead the day‑to‑day maintenance operation for an education‑sector client in Oxford. You will ensure that reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance and statutory compliance activities are carried out safely and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise internal maintenance teams and external contractors.
• Manage reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory compliance work.
• Ensure all tasks comply with health‑and‑safety legislation, safe systems of work, permits and risk assessments.
• Monitor service delivery performance against agreed service levels.
• Coordinate activities using a CAFM system and work closely with the help‑desk function.
• Control resources, materials, stock and subcontractor activities.
• Identify recurring issues and implement improvements to enhance asset performance.
• Support sustainability initiatives through efficient resource use and energy‑conscious practices.
• Participate in emergency call‑outs and escalation rotas as required.

Required profile

• Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in Plumbing and Heating.
• Practical knowledge of fire safety, asbestos awareness and water hygiene compliance.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of PPM programmes and reactive maintenance processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Experience managing contractors and using a CAFM system.
