Maintenance Technician – Facilities & Equipment

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician you will ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and production equipment at Farnell's UK distribution centre and head office. You will work independently and as part of a supportive team to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment and building infrastructure.
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical control systems and mechanical components on forklifts and automated warehouse equipment.
• Inspect, repair or replace electrical fixtures, lighting, switches and wiring, ensuring safety compliance.
• Maintain HVAC documentation, logbooks and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialised work and manage on‑site contractor activities.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to key performance metrics.
• Maintain accurate electronic and hard‑copy records of maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in a similar maintenance or facilities role.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a collaborative mindset across departments.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg regularly (50 kg occasionally), work at heights over 15 ft and operate in various weather conditions.
