Managed Care Social Worker – Newport Council

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker to deliver Managed Care services for adult clients on behalf of Newport Council. The role is a six‑month fixed‑term contract, working primarily on‑site in the office or community settings, and involves conducting assessments and reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive assessments and regular reviews for adult service users.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor care plans.
• Ensure compliance with local authority policies and the Social Services and Well‑Being Act (SSWBA) where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to case documentation.
• Provide support and guidance to service users and their families.

Required profile

• Relevant Social Work qualification.
• Registration with Social Care Wales (or Social Work England).
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and registration on the update service.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in Wales under the SSWBA.
• Valid driving licence with access to a car.

Required skills

• Social work assessment and case management.
• Knowledge of Welsh social care legislation.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
