Managing Director – Commercial Insurance Broking

About the role

We are seeking a Managing Director to lead our commercial insurance broking office in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will take full ownership of a well‑established team, a £10 million Gross Written Premium portfolio and a strong regional client base, backed by a national broking group.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and retain the existing team of 12 professionals.
• Protect and grow the current £10 m GWP portfolio.
• Strengthen relationships with key clients, insurers and introducers.
• Recruit high‑quality insurance professionals as needed.
• Develop new revenue streams through organic growth and selective hires.
• Maintain operational, regulatory and service standards.
• Create and execute a strategic plan for the office’s next growth phase.

Required profile

• Current or recent experience as an Insurance Broking Managing Director, Regional Director or Senior Account Executive with leadership responsibility.
• Strong local network and deep understanding of commercial insurance.
• Proven ability to balance client retention with ambitious growth.
• Demonstrated track record of leading teams and managing profitable portfolios.
