Manufacturing Engineer – R&D Test Rigs (Cranfield)

About the role

Framatome is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Cranfield lab and workshop. You will provide operational engineering support for current and future R&D projects, ensuring test rigs and facilities meet customer expectations using best‑practice methods.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to translate design drawings into measurement systems for high‑pressure, flow or heat applications.
• Plan, build, commission, maintain and operate R&D test rigs and related equipment.
• Assemble and install mechanical components, machinery and equipment according to technical drawings, P&ID and specifications.
• Perform validation and verification tests on customer assemblies.
• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, repairs and calibration of test rigs and specialised systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose faults and replace defective parts.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and calibration activities while prioritising health and safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical assembly and installation within an engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on first‑time right delivery.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.
