Material Planner

About the role

The Material Planner will be part of Caterpillar’s Inbound Supply Excellence team, responsible for scheduling, planning and overseeing material procurement, production and delivery for engine assembly and component machining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the flow of materials within the manufacturing facility and manage premium freight transfers to and from inventory or warehouse.
• Develop and execute material planning for assigned product lines, ensuring all material requirements are met on time.
• Schedule and control the release of materials, monitoring inventory levels in the plant, warehouse and with critical suppliers.
• Build and follow up on procurement plans to align with business objectives.
• Track and analyse supplier performance metrics and negotiate with suppliers to meet material specifications.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving knowledge, with the ability to recognise, anticipate and resolve operational or process issues.

• Salary starting at £31,414 plus experience.
