Materials Administrator – Engineering Support

About the role

This position supports a well‑established engineering business in Swindon, combining office administration with hands‑on workshop duties. You will split your time between processing paperwork and physically picking components for engineering assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Process and administer works orders and material requirements.
• Pick components and parts in line with production schedules.
• Cross‑check picked items against engineering paperwork, works orders and bills of materials.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to identify correct components.
• Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
• Liaise with customers over the phone, providing updates and handling enquiries.
• Monitor stock levels, report shortages and ensure documentation is up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
• Strong communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive, flexible and positive attitude.
• Physical fitness for regular movement around the workshop.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing or a technical setting is desirable.

What we offer

• Salary £25,000 – £28,000 per annum
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (37.5 hrs)
• Hybrid split – 50 % office work, 50 % workshop support
