Mechanical Build Engineer / Assembly Technician – Automotive & F1

About the role

The position is for a Mechanical Build Engineer / Assembly Technician within a rapidly scaling high‑tech business serving the automotive, Formula 1, aerospace and bike sectors. You will be hands‑on assembling precision sub‑assemblies and complete simulator systems, working closely with engineering and design teams, and travelling to customer sites in the UK and abroad for installations and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble precision mechanical sub‑assemblies and integrate them into full simulator systems.
• Follow detailed build instructions to deliver high‑quality, reliable assemblies.
• Carry out installations, modifications and maintenance at customer sites worldwide.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve build challenges and provide feedback.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date build and installation documentation.
• Ensure the workshop environment is safe, organised and professionally maintained.

Required profile

• Highly motivated, detail‑focused engineer with a strong work ethic.
• Self‑starter capable of managing own workload.
• Flexible and enthusiastic about extensive travel, both domestic and international.
• Professional demeanor when representing the company on‑site.

Required skills

• Proven experience in mechanical assembly with high precision and tight tolerances.
• Ability to interpret and follow detailed work instructions.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering and design teams.
• Comfortable working independently and within small teams.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
• Desirable: experience with composite materials and metrology.
