Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on building services to join a specialist engineering team. You will develop cost‑effective, regulation‑compliant solutions for smoke control, ventilation and façade ventilation across a variety of building types.

Key responsibilities

• Design smoke control, ventilation and performance louvre systems for diverse projects.
• Provide technical advice to internal teams and external customers via phone and email.
• Ensure designs meet current drawings, specifications, employer requirements and project scope.
• Manage technical queries through the RFI process.
• Design ductwork systems, select fans and perform pressure‑drop calculations.
• Prepare proposals and conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis when required.
• Produce technical submissions and detailed design documentation.
• Support project managers, installers and commissioning engineers with design queries.
• Participate in internal and external technical meetings, site demonstrations, smoke tests and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical and construction drawings.
• Experience designing ventilation and smoke control systems within the construction industry.
• Strong communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
