Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are a pioneering robotics and technology company seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Cambridge. You will work across the full product lifecycle, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering groups to deliver innovative robotic solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive product development from concept through production, covering the entire lifecycle.
• Collaborate closely with wider engineering teams to support system integrations.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
• Assist in product design reviews and ensure design quality.
• Manage the company’s CAD and PDM infrastructure.
• Create cost‑effective design solutions and perform cost analysis.
• Prepare and present technical reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree (BSc/BEng/HND) or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in full product development lifecycle.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Experience in cost analysis and working within robotic manufacturing environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, particularly SolidWorks.
• Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Knowledge of injection moulding processes.
• Hands‑on experience with CNC machining.
