Mechanical & Electrical Estimator

About the role

The role involves providing accurate cost estimates for mechanical and electrical works on construction projects. You will work closely with the project team to translate design information into competitive bids and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications and related documentation to understand scope and mechanical requirements.
• Analyse engineering drawings, blueprints and technical data to produce detailed cost estimates.
• Prepare competitive estimates covering mechanical systems, labour, materials, equipment, permits and other costs.
• Perform take‑offs and quantity surveys for HVAC, plumbing, piping and fire‑protection systems.
• Identify potential risks, propose mitigation solutions and support bid evaluation.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and negotiate pricing.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the mechanical and electrical industry, preferably in estimating, quantity surveying or contracts/project management.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing.
• Good knowledge of building codes, regulations and industry best practices.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping and fire‑protection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with quantity take‑offs and cost modelling.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes and regulations.
