Mechanical Engineer – Aerospace Systems

About the role

Gold Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its aerospace team in Rochester. You will support the design, development and fault‑finding of cutting‑edge aerospace systems, driving innovation from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Generate design concepts from first principles to meet project and customer requirements.
• Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs and technical reports for internal and customer review.
• Act as Design Authority, checking and approving drawings/MBD datasets to ensure compliance with standards and manufacturability.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines and support estimates for future design activities.
• Conduct Design Authority checks on peers' work, including calculations and technical documentation.
• Provide governance on adherence to departmental policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Meets UK‑SPEC Chartered Engineer level requirements.
• Comprehensive experience of the full product design lifecycle in an engineering environment.
• Proven ability to lead technical direction and support risk reduction and qualification testing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CREO CAD system.
• Experience using Teamcenter for data management.
• Strong knowledge of Model‑Based Definition (MBD) and technical drawing standards.
• Ability to perform Design Authority checks and produce detailed engineering calculations.
