Mechanical Engineer – Defence Specialist (HEO)

About the role

This is a rare opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to support UK Defence. Working within a small, high‑performing team, you will design, produce and test engineering solutions for specialist military users in complex environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design and development of operational hardware.
• Prototype, manufacture and rigorously evaluate systems for frontline use.
• Produce technical reports, design documentation and detailed drawings.
• Engage directly with operational users to capture requirements and ensure solutions meet real‑world needs.
• Handle sensitive and classified information with discretion.
• Contribute technical insight to mission planning and project direction.

Required profile

• Ofqual Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) with at least 2 years experience, or Level 4 with a minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, material science and prototype manufacturing.
• Hands‑on, on‑site working style with the ability to manage projects while staying technically involved.
