Mechanical Engineer – Heat Exchanger Design & Manufacture

About the role

Assystem is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in heat‑exchanger and pressure‑vessel design to support the delivery of high‑integrity equipment for nuclear projects. The role involves completing design close‑out, producing manufacturing documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant codes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the transition of designs from concept to manufacture, delivering complete documentation for shell‑and‑tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
• Perform Design by Analysis (DBA) assessments in line with industry codes.
• Prepare, review and interpret detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications and related documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including design, manufacturing and quality engineering.
• Contribute to technical documentation such as design calculations, specifications and drawings.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and manufacturing shell‑and‑tube heat exchangers or pressure vessels.
• Knowledge of pressure‑vessel codes (e.g., RCC‑M, ASME III, ASME VIII, BS EN 13445) and ability to apply them.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent; Chartered Engineer status desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Effective communication and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
