Mechanical Fitter – Gearbox & Rotating Equipment Specialist

About the role

Our client, a global leader in intelligent drive technology, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their Croydon team. You will be responsible for the complete strip‑down, inspection, survey, assembly and testing of a range of mechanical units.

Key responsibilities

• Strip down, inspect, survey, assemble and test gearboxes, fluid couplings, pumps, transmissions, cooling units and related equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings to identify components and support fault finding.
• Work to precise specifications, using calipers, micrometers and other measuring tools.
• Apply correct assembly techniques, including torque tightening and shrink‑fit procedures.
• Produce clear technical documentation throughout the work process.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of mechanical fitting experience, preferably with rotating equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience in an engineering environment.
• Apprentice‑trained or holding a relevant mechanical qualification.
