Mechanical Project Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a growing engineering business in the manufacturing and special‑purpose machinery sector. You will own projects from concept through to installation and commissioning, working closely with design, manufacturing, suppliers and customers to deliver bespoke solutions on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple engineering projects through the full lifecycle, from order receipt to handover.
• Coordinate schedules, budgets, resources and deliverables across cross‑functional teams.
• Liaise with customers to capture requirements and provide regular project updates.
• Work with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure solutions meet specifications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and supply‑chain teams to meet milestones.
• Monitor project costs and support commercial decision‑making.
• Oversee supplier relationships and subcontractor activities as needed.
• Support installation, commissioning and final handover activities.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and industry standards.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer or Design Engineer.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
• Effective communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
