Mechanical Technical Lead

About the role

As a Mechanical Technical Lead you will design and develop tools, fixtures, and equipment that support our manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with in‑house engineers and cross‑functional teams to ensure solutions meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation of detailed tooling designs, including fixtures, jigs, clamps and specialised equipment.
• Manage a team of UK and Indian engineers and subcontractors throughout the design lifecycle.
• Agree project timing and priorities with the Engineering Manager/Technical Lead and delegate tasks accordingly.
• Produce regular progress reports, scheme drawings, 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct power and stress calculations, FEA, DRA and FMEA to assess design feasibility and cost‑effectiveness.
• Prepare transmittal documents, operation and maintenance manuals and support out‑of‑hours engineering needs.
• Engage with remote teams worldwide and ensure adherence to a no‑fault forward‑engineering philosophy.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and coordinate cross‑regional projects.
• Strong organisational skills to manage project schedules and resource allocation.
• Ability to identify and communicate engineering constraints promptly.
• Willingness to provide out‑of‑hours support and leadership when required.
