Media & TV Lawyer

About the role

The TV Media Lawyer will join BT’s Legal, CoSec & Regulatory Affairs division, providing specialist legal support for television and audiovisual media activities. This is an early‑career, qualified‑lawyer position that blends commercial contract work with strategic advisory in a fast‑moving corporate environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on TV and audiovisual media matters across the media team.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and related documentation.
• Assess legal risk and deliver pragmatic, business‑focused solutions to stakeholders.
• Support strategically important projects with clear, commercially informed input.
• Collaborate with internal teams, building effective relationships across the business.
• Question and challenge constructively to support sound decision‑making.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer at an early stage of their career.
• Strong commercial legal capability and excellent drafting skills.
• Genuine interest in TV, media and audiovisual law.
• Ability to assess risk, work under pressure and meet demanding timescales.
• Integrity, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Understanding of BT’s consumer business objectives, processes and regulatory environment.
• Ability to influence and deliver on strategically important projects.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and persuasive drafting.
• Interest in TV/Media law and the UK audiovisual landscape.
