Medical Laboratory Assistant – Band 3‑4 (Temp, Full‑Time)

About the role
Acorn by Synergie is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support a busy laboratory at Bath Hospital. The role is band 3‑4, full‑time on a temporary basis, working Monday‑Friday from 12 pm to 8 pm.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, process and handle patient specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and record results.
- Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment according to standard procedures.
- Enter data and keep laboratory records up to date.
- Follow quality, health‑and‑safety and infection‑control protocols.
- Monitor stock levels and manage supplies.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth daily operations.
Required profile
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT proficiency for record‑keeping.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Flexibility to work the specified shift pattern.
Required skills

- Band 3‑4 pay rate (£13.17‑£14.52 per hour).
- Monday‑Friday, 12 pm‑8 pm shift pattern.
