Mental Health Assistant – Support SEMH Pupils in Primary School

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Mental Health Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Slough. You will work alongside experienced SENCOs and teaching staff to provide academic, emotional and behavioural support to pupils aged 4‑11 with SEMH and other special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group support for children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Assist teachers in adapting lesson materials and classroom environments.
- Collaborate with external professionals, such as child therapists and educational psychologists.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress and wellbeing.
- Promote inclusive practices and a positive learning atmosphere.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, caring and resilient attitude.
- Graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or a related field (preferred but not essential).
- Patience, empathy and a genuine interest in supporting young children.
- Previous experience with children is desirable but not mandatory.

- Full‑time, Monday‑Friday schedule (8:30 AM‑3:30 PM).
- Competitive daily rate of £92.59‑£95.
- Hands‑on experience with SEMH pupils and specialist SEN development.
