Mental Health Assistant – Support Vulnerable Children

About the role
This full‑time position offers a Psychology graduate the chance to work directly with vulnerable children and young people in a specialist school setting. You will help pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs develop resilience and thrive academically.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Assist pupils in developing emotional regulation, coping strategies and resilience.
- Support students during lessons and therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Build trusting relationships and act as a positive adult role model.
Required profile
- Recent Psychology graduate with a compassionate and resilient attitude.
- Interest in educational psychology, counselling, mental health or social care.
- Ability to work with children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Required skills
- No specific technical skills required; willingness to learn on the job.
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£110.
- Full‑time, term‑time only contract with immediate start (or September start).
