Mobile Cook Manager

About the role

As a Mobile Cook Manager based in Broxbourne, you will travel to primary and secondary schools across East Herts, West & North Essex, delivering fresh, nutritious meals while leading a kitchen team. Safeguarding children is paramount, and you will ensure every meal meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations across multiple school sites.
• Prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards.
• Oversee stock control, ordering, and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control and manage allergen awareness.
• Maintain accurate records such as HACCP logs, temperature checks and audits.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Committed to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (required).
• NVQ Level 2/3 (highly desirable).
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.
• Excellent planning, time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Experience managing budgets, stock and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and school food standards.

Required skills

• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification.
• Full, valid driving licence with business insurance, MOT and road tax.

• Joining bonus of £1,000 (terms apply).
• Hourly rate of £15.85 (£19,178 per annum) plus mileage reimbursement at 55p per mile.
