Mobile Cook Manager (School Catering)

About the role

As a Mobile Cook Manager you will travel to primary and secondary schools across the Broxbourne, East Herts, West & North Essex area, delivering fresh, nutritious meals while leading a mobile kitchen team. Safeguarding children and providing high‑quality food service are at the heart of this position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations on a mobile basis.
• Prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards.
• Oversee stock control, ordering, and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding regulations.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control and manage allergen awareness.
• Maintain accurate records such as HACCP logs, temperature checks and audit documentation.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (required).
• NVQ Level 2/3 (highly desirable).
• Proven leadership experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Well‑organised with strong planning and time‑management skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, stock and mobile kitchen operations.
• Full, valid driving licence, business insurance, MOT and road tax.

• Hourly rate £15.85 (£19,178 per annum) – term‑time only, 27.5 hours/week.
