Moderation Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Moderation Lead to own the day‑to‑day operation of the Community Center moderation function. This hands‑on leadership position combines people management, operational oversight, policy interpretation, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop a small team of content moderators through regular 1:1s, feedback, and coaching.
• Guide moderators on nuanced guideline application, balancing community safety with host engagement.
• Foster team culture and psychological safety in a shift‑based environment.
• Design and deliver training, calibration sessions, and onboarding for new moderators.
• Own operational health metrics: SLA tracking, queue management, throughput, and quality.
• Identify and implement workflow, tooling, and AI‑assisted moderation improvements.
• Handle escalation paths for complex or sensitive content.
• Produce reporting for Airbnb stakeholders and act as the operational voice with tooling teams.
• Serve as primary liaison between the moderation team and internal groups such as Community, Trust, Policy, Legal, and Customer Support.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading moderation or content‑review teams.
• Strong ability to coach team members through difficult calls and provide clear guidance.
• Comfort presenting programme health metrics to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent judgment in applying community guidelines and policy.
