Multi-Skilled Handy Person

About the role

Reporting to the Fleet Readiness Manager, this multi-skilled handy person supports the ongoing programme of re-fits, repairs and refurbishment of truck and trailer fleet interiors and exteriors. The workplace is on site within the Production department.

Key responsibilities

• Work with trades in a supporting role and carry out general first-fix joinery and bodywork repairs
• Remove and dispose of waste produced during the strip-out and refurbishment of trailer builds
• Paint and maintain the chassis, wheels and associated kit for deployments
• Assist trades where required in the fit-out of projects
• Reseal the exteriors of the units and paint doors and woodwork
• Carry out general site maintenance of HQ and yard

Required profile

• Essential experience; understanding of site safety and ability to work in a team
• Proven problem-solving ability
• Preferably able to manage multiple tasks to a high standard on time, with good organisational skills and flexible planning
• Full UK residency, a valid driving licence and suitable transport (public transport not recommended); able to travel throughout the UK and overseas if required

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings
• Training in the use of power tools
• Preferably trained in cutting-room joinery machinery
• Clear communication at all levels, internal and client-facing
