Newly Qualified Accountant – Finance Team, Derry

About the role

We are seeking a newly qualified accountant to join a fast‑growing manufacturing and engineering organisation in Derry. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, you will gain broad exposure to financial reporting, planning and operational finance within a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations accurately and on time.
• Assist with statutory accounts and audit processes.
• Monitor financial performance and provide insights to support business decisions.
• Maintain and improve financial controls and processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support operational and commercial objectives.
• Assist with tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, customs declarations).
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the wider finance function.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
• 1–2 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in industry.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical mindset.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive approach.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software/systems.
• Tax compliance knowledge (VAT, PAYE, customs).
