NodeJS Backend Engineer – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

We are looking for a NodeJS Backend Engineer to join a fast‑growing SaaS business on a 12‑month contract. The role is primarily remote across England, with a one‑day visit to our Berkshire office to collect equipment. You will own the delivery of backend features end‑to‑end, writing clean, well‑tested code that meets high standards of quality and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver backend features end‑to‑end (design to production‑ready code) in a fast‑moving agile team.
• Write scalable, high‑performance server‑side code using NodeJS and TypeScript.
• Build and contribute to microservices, taking ownership of outcomes.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality, reliability, and stability across releases.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate messaging queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Required profile

• Experience in server‑side development with NodeJS and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with NestJS framework.
• Experience with messaging queues (RabbitMQ or Kafka) and microservice architectures.
• Background in fast‑paced or high‑growth environments.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and VS Code.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests using Jest.
• Understanding of CI/CD principles.
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
