Nursing Assistant – Immunisations

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran Immunisation team is seeking Nursing Assistants to support school‑based vaccination programmes. This fixed‑term position runs from September to November 2026 and offers flexible part‑time hours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up immunisation equipment before each session.
• Assist children before and after vaccination, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Monitor and restock equipment bags at the end of each day.
• Support the delivery of the Flu Immunisation Programme across primary schools in three localities.
• Work under the direct supervision of Band 5 immunisation nurses.

Required profile

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience carrying out tasks in educational settings.
• Previous community or public‑health experience.

Required skills

• Valid UK driving licence (essential for travel between schools).
